Please join us for an engaging evening with Professor William Reinfeld on Wednesday, August 17 at 6:30pm. He will be providing insights into the concepts of executing and managing cross-border alliances with special emphasis on Chinese firms.

Specific Topics: 1. Introduction to CBSA - what they are and how they differ from other forms of JV; opportunities/challenges for CBSA between Western and Chinese/Taiwanese firms 2. Selecting Partners for CBSAs and Negotiating the Alliance - what to look for and how; unique aspects of negotiating a partnership; negotiating with Chinese partners 4. Designing the Alliance and Getting Started - structure; governance; scope; measuring contributions; the management agenda; exiting 5. Managing Alliances - bridging gaps; learning and adjusting; managing network alliances; managing multiple alliances
Biography William Reinfeld is a management consultant and professor of business and economic strategy at National Cheng Chi University and Chang Gang University in Taiwan. He teaches courses in international business strategy and organization/management in the highly ranked EMBA and MBA programs at these universities. He has also has taught in the EMBA program at the University of Pittsburgh, was on the faculty of the ADL Management Education Institute, and taught strategic consulting at the Andersen Consulting global training headquarters at St Charles, Illinois.
He received a BS at Carnegie Mellon and his Ph.D. at Yale. He joined the consulting firm of Arthur D. Little (ADL), where he was Vice President, International. From 1969 to 1972, he was Chief Economist on a major engagement with the Asian Development Bank covering all of Southeast Asia. In 1987, he moved to Taiwan to establish the ADL's Greater China practice. He runs his own consulting practice putting together cross-boarder strategic alliances in Asia.
This will be an introduction to a longer series of talks delivered by Professor Reinfeld in late October sponsored by Carnegie Mellon's Professional Development Center

Professor of Business Economic Strategy

Overview
William Reinfeld is a management consultant and professor of business and economic strategy. He is currently Adjunct Professor at National Cheng Chi University (NCCU) and Chang Gang University (CGU), both in Taiwan. He teaches courses in international business strategy and organization/management in the EMBA and MBA programs at these universities. The EMBA program at NCCU has been ranked Number 1 in Taiwan. He has also taught in the EMBA program at the University of Pittsburgh, served on the faculty of the ADL Management Education Institute, and taught strategic consulting at the Andersen Consulting global training headquarters at St Charles, Illinois.
In 1967, after earning his PhD at Yale University, he joined the consulting firm of Arthur D. Little (ADL), where he was Vice President, International. From 1969 to 1972, he was Chief Economist on a major en-gagement with the Asian Development Bank in the Philippines, covering all of Southeast Asia. After return-ing to the United States, he was appointed Director of ADL’s Economic Development practice and managed consulting engagements throughout North America, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In 1986, he moved to Taiwan to establish ADL’s Greater China practice. In 1994, he joined Andersen Consulting (Accenture), where he established and directed its Greater China strategy consulting practice. Since leaving Accenture in 2000, he has continued his own consulting practice as well as teaching and putting together cross-boarder strategic alliances in Asia.
